Finding my Muse

I have canvases sitting off to the side in my apartment.  I've been looking at them, but feeling little of no inspiration to touch any of the surfaces.  Lately, my focus has been with writing, creating a colorful world with words instead of paint.  I've just finished my first novel and when I get back from my trip I'll be putting it on line.

Enough about me, I wanted to post an image from my trip to New York City.  I went to so many galleries and was completely connected to my muse.  One artist that always connects me to my artist soul is "Lucian Freud".  His portraits bring such honesty through figurative work.  I saw the following painting at the Museum of Modern Art.

The next image is a close up of the same work.  To really feel this work, you have to see all the texture on the surface.  This piece takes me right inside this person, what he is feeling and into the raw nakedness of life.

I will be leaving on my trip soon and won't be posting for awhile, but I will have some wonderful pictures to share and hopefully inspire your inner muse!!!

  1. Suzanne, I am so looking forward to having my inner muse ignited when you return from Paris.

I was wondering if you would still be interested in drawing/painting a picture for my David when you come back... ?

I don't care if I am late giving it to him, I want him to have something special and I know you will make it special <3

  2. Hi Launna:
Thanks for your lovely message. Yes, of course, I would love to draw David's portrait. We can discuss the details when I return.
    Hugs,
    Suzanne

  3. Hey Suzanne,

Wow, that really has some defining features. You have quite the talent. It almost looks like the face of a lady on his back. Maybe I'm hallucinating, eh :)

    Right then, I'm going now.

    Your starstruck fan,

    Gary :)

    1. Hey Gary:
I would love to take credit for the painting, but it isn't mine. The famous Lucien Freud painted it!!! If I could paint like him, I would be floating on cloud 999!!! :) Thanks for your wonderful support!!
